How To Use Pinterest And Grow Traffic For Your Business
Updated: Jun 8, 2020
What’s it all about? Are you thinking the same thing as me?
Pinterest is becoming the next best thing for businesses looking to increase more traffic via your marketing strategy.
Well, the good news is that I can now finally share what I learnt from a recent training webinar on “Pinterest for Business” to help get your Wellbeing business seen.
A moment of truth:
I’ve been using Pinterest for a while now, and if I’m honest I thought it was just a case of uploading pretty pictures that reflected your business brand along with an appropriate call-to-action, but uh oh was I wrong! That would explain why I wasn’t getting results from it.
Before we dive in, let’s take a look at what Pinterest is and why it’s beneficial for your business:
What is Pinterest:
Pinterest is a social media network that allows users to share, discover new interests by “pinning” to your own / one another’s boards.
What is a “pin” and what does it mean?
To put it very simply, a pin is similar to a tweet on Twitter. It usually consists of a well put together graphic that explains what your image (otherwise known as “pin”) is about and what it will give your audience. You usually upload pins through a specific board that you have created on Pinterest for your audience to see and use.
Why it’s beneficial for your business and marketing:
Pinterest converts “pins” into potential customers
Pinterest is an amazing way to convert traffic to your website, blogs, leadpages etc...
Increase brand awareness
Increase user engagement
Research what your ideal client want to read about or see more of.
I’ll dive more into these points shortly.
How to get started:
The first thing I learnt was to ensure your Pinterest profile is fully optimised using the appropriate keywords to reflect what you do and who for (ideal client), similarly to other social media networks.
Originally my account reflected my business name, however, it comes recommended that you use your name as well as; what you do and your business name i.e. Lisa Ferris | Wellbeing PA | Your Business Name - this increases the chances of your keywords being picked up through searches. A bit like how google works.
Since participating in the step-by-step Pinterest webinar, my reach has already doubled. Because I was using it poorly and incorrectly beforehand, I would get as little as 50 viewers per pin, which isn’t great. Now some of my pins are getting over 1.2k views. Whilst this is still new, and I’ve only really been “pinning” properly for approximately 2 weeks, in theory the numbers for ‘link clicks’ should gradually go up.
