3 Tips On How To Avoid Burnout When Managing Your Business
Updated: Sep 22, 2019
This week I’m making it all about mindfulness and better productivity.
Why do we need this? Our busy brains need a regular break in order for us to get the best out of productivity but life gets the better of us and we simply don't priortise time for us. Pay close attention to your mood change when you're next taking a break, taking a walk or doing something that you love (asides work!!) - feels good right?!
Let's get started.
PHASE 1: WIN the first battle💪
It’s Monday and the sun is shining – a perfect way to start a fresh week.🌸🌞
Do you have a busy week and no time for mindfulness? That’s OK! Mindfulness doesn’t always have to be about taking time out for the gym. In actual fact, there’s a few simple things that you could do to practice mindfulness that’s not going to affect your busy workload. So, what are they?🧘♀️🧘♀️
1) Change the way you get up in the morning – try not to snooze the alarm. DID YOU KNOW that by counting backwards from 5,4,3,2,1 within 5 seconds of waking up in the morning will allow you to get up easier. HOW? The brain is so powerful right and a lot of the time it will try to talk us out of getting up or anything that doesn’t make us feel comfortable, but we can beat it!! Using the 5 second rule gives you time to DO (get up for instance) before your brain wakes up and tries to talk you into staying in bed.
2) What makes you happy? Is it listening to music, spending time with loved ones, going to the gym? Get up extra early in the morning to do these things before setting off work. It’s all about changing that negative thought pattern – fight the thoughts of ‘I can’t be bothered to go to work’ and so forth… get up and do something that is going to make you feel good. Tell your brain and that negative thought pattern TO DO ONE.
3) How do you travel to work? Do you work from home, shop or your home office? Can you change your routine to factor in time for a quick walk? Did you know that walking is one of the most relaxing exercises? When walking, pay attention to your 5 senses; listen to the birds singing, what do you see around you? What do you taste? What do you smell – perhaps it’s the fresh air that you can smell? How does your body feel – relaxed, tense?
I want you to have a think about your current lifestyle from the moment you wake up to the moment you sleep at night. What things could you do to switch up your routine? Apps such as RescueTime is a great app for monitoring daily habits and tracking time.
Could it be that work just doesn't allow you to switch off? Do you find it hard to let go of work? Unsure on how to delegate? Check out my recent FB post on a few simple effective tips on ways to delegate; https://www.facebook.com/YourVLA/photos/a.506306186545911/551822345327628/?type=3&theater
I hope these steps will start to make a difference to your life.
